    Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa, formerly known as Upper Volta. In 1984, President Thomas Sankara gave the nation its current name, which means “land of upright people” in the Mossi and Dyula languages. The capital is Ouagadougou. The landscape is mostly flat, with some hills in the west and the celebrated Karfiguéla Waterfalls. The tropical climate brings a rainy season from May to October, making this period especially appealing for visitors. Burkina Faso is a member of the African Union.
