      Jeddah
Jeddah, set on the Red Sea in western Saudi Arabia, is a key industrial and commercial centre for the country. The city has more than 4 million inhabitants and serves as the main commercial port and transit point for pilgrimages to Mecca. Jeddah is home to refineries, steelworks and chemical and textile factories. Construction is currently under way on the Jeddah Tower, a skyscraper that will exceed a kilometre in height. The best time to visit is winter, when temperatures are milder, at around 20-25°C.
